Here at Host, we recently celebrated our first birthday. And while we had a great first year, we think our second year is going to be even better. Why? Because we’re opening student accommodation in even more cities, including in Dublin, Ireland.
Dublin, is the capital of Ireland and its name derives from two Gaelic words, ‘Dubh’ and ‘linn’; meaning ‘black’ and ‘pool’ respectively. And by coincidence, one of the first things you might do when you get to Dublin is order a pint of the black stuff! Did you know, 10 million pints of Guinness are produced in Dublin every day? So, you’ll have no problems finding somewhere to indulge. But if it’s your first time, there’s no better place to taste it than at the world-famous Guinness Storehouse.
Don’t be fooled though, there’s far more to this intriguing city than just the drink. Dublin boasts the largest walled park in Europe, Phoenix Park, which is double the size of New York’s Central Park. You can take a trip back in time or admire artwork in one of the many museums and galleries. And for you romantics out there, Dublin is also the resting place of St. Valentine.
So, that’s a little look at the city, what about the accommodation?
Due for completion in 2018, construction of our new student accommodation in Dublin is well underway. Our newest and largest development, Point Campus Dublin, will consist of two buildings, with a total of 966 student beds. They’ll be a combination of en-suite bedrooms arranged in shared flats of 4-8 bedrooms. They’ll also be a limited number of individual studio apartments for those who prefer a little more privacy.
But that’s not all, the new development will also feature a variety of modern on-site facilities and social spaces. Students will be able to enjoy a gym and group fitness studio, a cinema room, games room, study rooms, outdoor courtyard areas and roof terraces.
If you’re wondering where Point Campus is located, you’ll be able to find them in the up and coming Point Village area of Dublin. Right next door to the 3 Arena, an Odeon cinema and shopping centre, this area is a future hot spot of Dublin.
Just ten minutes on the Luas from O’Connell Street and the large shopping area of Henry Street, you have everything you need just a short journey away. And getting to university couldn’t be easier either. Hop on the Luas line right outside our accommodation and when you arrive at O’Connell Street, Trinity College is just a short walk away. Or if it’s a sunny day, enjoy a stroll down the Liffey. You can walk directly from our accommodation to Trinity College in just 25 minutes. Other universities and colleges in the city are also an easy Luas or bus journey away, or just a short walk to the campuses.
