University Mental Health Day 2022

University Mental Health Day 2022

University Mental Health Day is the national day for student mental health in our universities. It is a day created with the intention of breaking mental health stigma.

UMHD brings together the university community to make mental health a university-wide priority. And create ongoing year-round change to the future of student mental health. And ensuring that no student should ever feel alone with their mental health.

No one’s immune from suffering with their mental health. At the end of January, model Bella Hadid shared selfies online showing her struggle with her mental health, highlighting that even those with seemingly perfect lives face the same issues as everyone else when it comes to depression and anxiety.

It’s important that we all face up to the reality that most young people will experience some sort of mental health issues. Not just during their university years and beyond and there’s nothing weak or shameful about it. There is a lot of pressure on us all to live up to the perfection presented online everywhere you look. But these presentations are rarely the reality when you fully look into people’s lives. What we can do is seek help when we need it and be there for others when they share their own struggles.

How to get involved

Thinking of getting involved? Head to the University Mental Health Day website for all the information, and make sure you’re following Student Space on your socials.

Across all Host locations there will be drop-in sessions and materials available with advice on wellbeing and local support services. Other wellbeing activities will be run at the sites so check with your receptions to see what’s planned.

We’ll be sharing all that’s going on at our sites on University Mental Health Day 2022. Follow us on Instagram.

#HostEnvironmentalPledge.
Getting serious about the environment we live in.

To become more ‘environmentally friendly’, Host is launching the #HostEnvironmentalPledge campaign to encourage responsible behaviour and drive sustainability across our sites throughout the UK and Ireland.

It’s a simple campaign! If we can reduce our overall utilities (electric, water and gas) consumption by 1% then we will donate £10,000, 2% reduction means £20,000, 3% is £30,000 and so on, to 3 charities; BulliesOut, Planet Patrol and World Land Trust.
