Liverpool
John Moores University (LJMU)

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), which originally opened as a Mechanics Institute in 1823, is now one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK.

Named after Sir John Moores – the entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded the Littlewoods retail empire – the university comprises three large campuses, with the central ‘City’ campus just a short walk from some of Liverpool’s main sites, including the World Museum, the Walker Art Gallery and St George’s Hall.

Home to almost 19,000 full time students from 100 countries the university offers 250 degree courses across five faculties.

The five faculties are: Liverpool Business School, Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies, Faculty of Education, Health and Community, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

The university has its own Centre of Entrepreneurship that supports upwards of 2,000 students every year in developing their own businesses. In 2022 the university ranked 73rd in the Complete University Guide.

Our Hope Street Apartments are just a 6 minute walk from the university’s John Foster Building, part of the Mount Pleasant Campus.

Our awards.
All dedicated to you.

We’re proud to have won some awards. But hopefully they mean something to you too. Because the Global Student Living Index only recognises accommodation based on real student experiences. So the people voting are the ones who live with us. Which means you can pick your Host student home with confidence.
