Modern Slavery Statement
At Host, we are committed to conducting our business with integrity, accountability and respect for human rights. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, child labour and human trafficking. These practices have no place in our operations or supply chain.
Modern slavery is a severe violation of human rights. It can take many forms – coercion, deception, exploitation – and it exists across many industries, including those linked to student accommodation. Host recognises our responsibility to identify risks, raise awareness and take proactive, meaningful action to prevent exploitation.
Our approach is guided by three core principles:
- Responsibility
Our Executive and Senior Management Teams are actively involved in identifying, assessing and addressing modern slavery risks within our business and supply chain. - Transparency
We work closely with suppliers, contractors and partners to ensure ethical labour practices are upheld at every stage of our operations. - Action
We deliver training, promote awareness and maintain clear, accessible channels for reporting concerns, enabling us to act swiftly and appropriately when issues arise.
We pay particular attention to higher-risk areas, including cleaning services, security, construction subcontracting, outsourced operations and goods sourced from countries with weaker labour protections. Our due diligence processes help us make informed, ethical decisions about who we work with and how we operate.
We believe that ethical and sustainable business practices are not only a matter of compliance – but they are also essential to building trust with our students, education partners and the communities we serve.
Tackling modern slavery is an ongoing journey, and we recognise that collaboration is key. We engage with industry peers, government agencies and non-governmental organisations to strengthen our understanding, share best practice and support broader efforts to combat exploitation.
This commitment is championed at the highest level of our organisation with our Director of Operations and Senior Management Team overseeing the delivery of our modern slavery strategy, which is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains effective and fit for purpose.
We are proud of the standards we set and we are sure to hold both ourselves and our partners accountable to them.
