Recycling Bin

Help us go green at Host

If the environment is something you care about and protecting it is something you feel passionate about, now is the time to stand up for what you believe in and do something about it.

Recycling is something we’ve all heard about, and as a nation we’re recycling more than ever before. In fact, 60% of households are now recycling more than a year ago due to environmental concerns. But there’s still more that can be done to make a difference.

If you put a plastic bottle in the bin, you might think ‘it’s just one bottle’, but what if we all thought that? With a population of 66 million people in the UK, that’s a lot of plastic bottles going to waste and damaging our environment. The plastics from items such as bottles and carrier bags that end up in our oceans kill around 1,000,000 sea creatures every year.

However, by recycling just 1 plastic bottle, you’ll not only reduce the impact on our oceans and sea creatures, but you could power a 60-watt light bulb for 3 hours with the energy saved by recycling. Multiply that power by 66 million, and that’s a lot of energy saved just from one small action.

But it’s not just plastic bottles that can be recycled. Whether it’s the cardboard from your takeaway box or the glass bottle from your drink, think before you bin it. A lot of the items you use every day come in packing and containers that can be recycled.

Below is a summary of the common items that can be recycled across our Host accommodations*.

If you’re recycling, please remember to rinse any food packaging and remove lids.

What doesn’t go in my recycling bin?

No carrier bags, plastic bags or bin liners – put them in your rubbish bin. If in doubt, leave it out!

Got any handy tips or advice on reducing waste? Let us know as we’d love to share them with others!

*Recycling facilities vary across locations. Please check with your chosen Host accommodation for an exact list of all the items that can be recycled on-site.
