1. Invest in foil
Don’t sweat the next time you have to clean the oven. Cover a baking tray with foil and place it at the bottom of your oven to catch any spillages, crumbs and mess from foods cooking on the selves above. When it’s time to clean, simply remove the sheet of foil covered in grease, and replace with a new one.
Microwaves can be messy – especially if you’re sharing one with others. Splatters of soup and dried-on sauces are commonplace in a microwave. But with just a few drops of vinegar and a bowl of water, yours can be sparkling in no time. Simply place the bowl in the microwave for 5 minutes. The steam from the water and vinegar solution will have loosened up all of the grime from inside the microwave; making it easy to wipe clean.
3. Keep your fridge fresh
No one wants to reach to the back of the fridge to find an out-of-date piece of food rotting. Check your fridge regularly and throw away any out of date food to prevent bad odours and mess being made. Line the fridge shelves with cling film so when any spillages occur, all you have to do is peel off the film, discard of it and re-line the shelf.
4. Ventilate your bathroom
It’s important to keep your bathroom well ventilated to reduce mould and grime building up; which can be very difficult to clean and get rid of. If you have a bathroom fan installed, make sure you always keep it on when showering, and leave your bathroom door open after you’ve showered to let the air in.
5. De-fluff your furnishings
From cushions and curtains, to lamp shades, a quick and easy way to dust off any soft furnishings is to use a lint roller. The one-sided self-adhesive roll is an inexpensive item which will pick up any bits of fluff, fibres and hairs in no time to give your fabrics a fresh new-look and feel. And if you get carried away with the cleaning, you can even lint roll yourself to remove any dust from your clothing.
