Things to do this Easter in the UK
Spring is finally here, and that means Easter bank holiday weekend is approaching. It’s time to bring out those lighter clothes (but maybe still bring your umbrella) and explore all the wonder that your Host city has to offer.
When is Good Friday and Easter Sunday?
This year, Easter weekend includes Good Friday bank holiday (7th April), Easter Sunday (9th April) and Easter Monday bank holiday (10th April).
Events at your Student Union.
Student Unions do more than just represent students. There will be scheduled socials, pub trips and game nights throughout the year. Contact your student union or pop in yourself. You can even suggest events for them to put together.
Enjoy the outside this Easter.
Green spaces are so important for our health. Luckily for us, most cities have had success with making sure there are plenty of parks, playgrounds and residential greenery for us to enjoy. Lots of cities have hiking trails with some satisfying views. Join a local Facebook group that plan hikes in your area.
Spring into the local Museum and Art centres.
Endless fun, entertainment and culture. And most of the time it’s free. These places are full of things for you to do, to enjoy on your own or with friends. Most exhibits cycle through the calendar year and may even be relevant to your course. It can’t hurt to find out more about the history of your student city.
Make new friends at your local.
Every uni town and city has a student local. That is local pub or bar that students find themselves calling their second home. What’s great about visiting your local is that most other students are there for the same reasons you are – to relax after a long day at uni, have a few drinks and socialise.
Most pubs have student nights and pub quizzes that you can get involved with. Don’t think about it too much, just show up and see where the night takes you.
Start playing a new sport this Spring.
If you need a little encouragement with exercising but hate the gym – consider joining a local sport team this spring. Most universities will have teams that you can join, from football to rowing, or even Korfball (it’s Dutch). Joining a sport team is a great way to meet new people.
Spring Food Festivals.
Everyone loves food. And food festivals kick off in the spring. They are the best place to check out some of the best vendors and restaurants a city has to offer. Find local festival information on your local tourist website.
Escape room and laser tag.
This is a great one to bring a big group of friends along for. Most activities last between 30 minutes to an hour. Don’t forget to ask about student discounts – as some will have them.
