When you’re viewing a property for university, we understand the importance of asking questions and getting the feel of the space. You might feel pressure to secure student accommodation, but it pays off to be thorough when viewing show flats. We’ve put together a list of the best questions to ask when viewing student accommodation.
Paddleboard for Planet Patrol
Do you want to get outside, do something adventurous, and help the planet at the same time? If yes, you’ve come to the right place.
Our nominated charity of the year, Planet Patrol, hosts free clean-ups all over the world – and you’re invited!
Who is Planet Patrol?
Planet Patrol is an international movement sitting at the intersection of wellbeing and environment. Planet Patrol’s mission is to ignite and lead behavioural change around polluting litter through community action and citizen science whilst driving industry and political action that serves to protect our planet and wildlife from the harmful effects of single-use litter.
You can also learn more in our recent Spotlight blog.
What’s a clean-up?
Planet Patrol’s clean-ups combine litter picking with lots of different activities. From paddleboarding to plogging (jogging whilst picking up litter), yoga to beach cleans – there is something for everyone. Activities are completely free to join, and all the equipment is supplied. You don’t need experience, just enthusiasm.
Visit the Planet Patrol website for a list of clean-ups near you (keep an eye out for more dates to be added soon). Then all you need to do is sign up to reserve your spot, download the Planet Patrol iOS or Android app and create an account before you arrive.
On the day you’ll help collect rubbish then photograph and log your plastic haul on the app. And of course, have some active fun!
So, what are you waiting for? Get active, get involved and help our environment!
Are you passionate about the environment? Do you want to be a green champion and help us on our quest to reduce energy? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org – we’d love to hear from you!
Getting serious about the environment we live in.
To become more ‘environmentally friendly’, Host is launching the #HostEnvironmentalPledge campaign to encourage responsible behaviour and drive sustainability across our sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
It’s a simple campaign! For every percent we reduce our overall utilities (electric, water and gas) consumption by we donate to one of our nominated charities.Show me all news
This year, Chinese New Year is on Saturday 10th February and it is the year of the Dragon Zodiac. The Chinese New Year date changes every year, but is always held between January 21st and February 20th, as the Chinese year follows the lunar calendar. The holiday falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice, (the winter solstice, occurs when one of the Earth's poles has its maximum tilt away from the Sun), on December 21st.
Starting university can be a daunting experience for anyone, especially if you’re an international student who has travelled across the world to study in the UK.
