The Hive student accommodation in London is having a makeover

If you’re getting ready to or are already studying in London and need somewhere to live for September 2021, we’ve got some exciting news to share with you.

Our student accommodation at The Hive in Bethnal Green is having a makeover and is undergoing a complete transformation; ready for students moving in at the start of the 2021/22 academic year.

Why we’re having a makeover

It’s fair to say most of us love the feeling of something new. Whether it’s a new phone, a new outfit or even a new episode of our favourite series on Netflix; there really is nothing better than the feelings of excitement, joy and satisfaction when experiencing something new.

And that’s exactly how we want our students to feel when they move into The Hive. We want them to have the best possible living experience whilst studying at university or college in London.

Students at The Hive will experience an even more comfortable, stylish and social place to live than ever before. Somewhere welcoming and supportive. Happy and relaxed. A place to make the most of being a student. After all, it will be a place for them to call home for the year.

So, what’s new?

We recognise that student accommodation is more than just a bedroom and a place to sleep. It should be a place where students can relax, interact and socialise with one another. Somewhere they feel connected and part of a community.

That’s why we’re bringing a brand-new look to all areas at The Hive. And as part of the refurbishment, we’re putting a greater emphasis on our communal spaces.

The social spaces

The current internal communal spaces will be totally transformed, and the new areas have been designed with the wellbeing of students in mind.

The colours will be calming, textures and furniture will be stylish and comfortable, and the areas and facilities will encourage reduced screen time and a break from the stresses of student life; somewhere residents can come together to unwind and have fun instead.

From the moment students walk in, they’ll be wowed by the brand-new entrance and reception area. The new look brings sophistication and elegance to the accommodation; setting the tone for the style and experience that can be expected throughout the rest of the building.

Moving on up to the common areas, students will find several areas to socialise in. First off there’s the brand-new communal lounge. Whether it’s hanging out with others in the centre booths or sitting back to admire the city views from the window seats, there’s plenty of space for students to take time out to chill out.

To avoid disturbing students relaxing in the lounge, we’re moving our games area to its own room. Here there will be a choice of games tables available for students to use; allowing for some friendly competition with one another. There’s even some seating for spectators to watch the competition unfold.

With the accommodation at The Hive being all private Studio rooms, we understand how important it is for students to have the opportunity to do the activities together that those who live in shared flats may experience. This includes being able to cook and eat together.

That’s why we’re introducing a brand-new state of the art communal kitchen and dining area; equipped with everything needed for students to cook up a storm together. From MasterChef and The Great British Bake Off, to Come Dine With Me and Dinner Date, students can have some fun and recreate popular food and dining experiences.

The living spaces

When it’s time for some ‘me’ time after a busy day of studying and socialising, students can unwind in one of our studio rooms which will be freshly redecorated for move in.

They’re all equipped with all the necessities for a stress-free student living experience. From a hob, microwave and combi-oven and a dishwasher in the kitchen and a large desk, chair and shelving units for studying, to a ¾ double bed and TV, there will be everything needed to cook, study and sleep in comfort.
