The story so far: The Foundry, Leeds

Summer approaches and students are heads down, completing coursework and exams; all in preparation for the start of university in September. So, we thought we’d share with you the latest building updates at our brand-new student accommodation. Named The Foundry, our development opens in Leeds this September.

The Foundry has come a long way in a short space of time. It’s due for completion in August; ready to welcome new and returning students from the universities in Leeds in September.

It was only a little over six months ago, in October, that we announced The Foundry was in development. Back then, the building work hadn’t long begun. The Foundry wasn’t much more than a small frame, a few floors high.

The development of The Foundry

But since then, a real transformation has taken place. Already ahead of schedule, the development is coming along in spectacular fashion! And while we may have been looking up from ground level in 2016, we started the New Year looking down from nine levels high; with the main body of the building looking in great shape back in January. Do you know what we love most about being nine levels high? The view. Looking out right across the city, you won’t find many better room views in Leeds.

And if we rewind just a few weeks, to the end of March, we were very excited when the gorgeous chocolate brown cladding and gold window panels were installed on the new accommodation building – even if it did make us hungry for some chocolate!

With another month behind us, we’re one step closer to completion. And April saw the arrival of interior fixtures, fittings and furniture in our Suites and kitchens. Fitted with modern, stylish and comfortable furniture and furnishings, we’re on a mission to make The Foundry a place you can be proud to call home. And with some of the largest rooms in the city (our Apartments range from 27m² to a whopping 43m²), you’ll have plenty of space to enjoy.

What’s next?

Now you’re up-to-date with the building’s progress so far, what about May? Well, its already gotten off to a great start with the removal of the hoardings from around the site. Which means you can now see The Foundry in all its glory; and we love it! We’ve even added some of our bright Host branding to the entrance so you definitely won’t miss us in passing!

As for the social spaces – if you haven’t already heard, at The Foundry we have some of the best amenity spaces and facilities being built in the city. You’ll find lots of common spaces and seating areas to sit back and catch up with friends, as well as a study area to get your head down and focus on work, and a cinema room to watch the latest blockbuster films. And if that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got an onsite gym packed with the latest equipment for you to workout in, a selection of games tables such as pool and table tennis, and an outdoor area for those sunnier days.
