Endless fun, entertainment and culture. And most of the time it’s free. These places are full of things for you to do, to enjoy on your own or with friends. Every uni town and city has a student local. That is local pub or bar that students find themselves calling their second home. What’s great about visiting your local is that most other students are there for the same reasons you are – to relax after a long day at uni, have a few drinks and socialise.
Most pubs have student nights and pub quizzes that you can get involved with. Don’t think about it too much, just show up and see where the night takes you.
If you need a little encouragement with exercising but hate the gym – consider joining a local sport team this spring. Most universities will have teams that you can join, from football to rowing, or even Korfball (it’s Dutch). Joining a sport team is a great way to meet new people.
Everyone loves food. And food festivals kick off in the spring. They are the best place to check out some of the best vendors and restaurants a city has to offer. Find local festival information on your local tourist website.
This is a great one to bring a big group of friends along for. Most activities last between 30 minutes to an hour. Don’t forget to ask about student discounts – as some will have them.
