In the UK, term is mostly used instead of the word ‘semester’. The word originates from the USA. Either of the two periods into which a year is divided at a school or university: fall/spring.

Semester 1 tends to start around September/October and end in January. Semester 2 starts in January and ends in June/July.

Many language, PhD and Masters courses are shorter in length, and their students equally require shorter length accommodation. Semester bookings are also great for medical students who are working placements and need shorter contracts.
