It’s that time of year again; exams are almost over, university is finishing for another year and students up and down the country are starting to leave their accommodation. And let’s face it, packing up your belongings and having to move out is never much fun.
Welcome to Derby, welcome to The Croft
It’s been a busy few days for our team in Derby. We were officially handed the keys to the doors of our brand-new accommodation in the city, The Croft, last week. And before we knew it, students were arriving and moving in ready for the start of the new university term.
Now, as our students settle in and we look to the year ahead, here’s a glimpse of our new building.
Comprising of two blocks, and standing at seven and eight floors high, The Croft houses a total of 326 en-suite bedrooms, arranged in 4-9 bed flats with shared kitchen and living areas.
We love our building and we love our bedrooms at The Croft, but what we love the most is our beautiful common areas.
Featuring games tables, study space, a lounge area and a gym. Our residents sure aren’t short of space to socialise in and relax after a busy day at university.
Talking of university, our residents haven’t far to go for their studies. The University of Derby’s four campuses are all just a short walk away.
We’d like to wish all students who are starting university this month the best of luck for the year. And if you’re a student living with us at any of our Host properties, we hope you enjoy your stay. Don’t forget our friendly on-site teams are on hand to help should you have any queries.
Getting serious about the environment we live in.
To become more ‘environmentally friendly’, Host is launching the #HostEnvironmentalPledge campaign to encourage responsible behaviour and drive sustainability across our sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
It’s a simple campaign! If we can reduce our overall utilities (electric, water and gas) consumption by 1% then we will donate £10,000, 2% reduction means £20,000, 3% is £30,000 and so on, to 3 charities; BulliesOut, Planet Patrol and World Land Trust.Show me all news

Feeling lonely at university might seem strange but it’s actually very common, but what is loneliness and how do I combat those feelings?
