If you want to make your room a bit cosier this Autumn, then these tips we’ve put together may be what you need to get started in creating that perfect fall vibe. Looking for some ideas on where to start? Start your own Pinterest board for your room and look at what other pinners (official name) are creating.
Autumn decorating is all about bringing a flavour of the outside into your home, so you will see lots of decor with leaves, pinecones and berries in them. Colours like brown and orange never really go out of style in autumn, so you should mix them up with different patterns and textures.
Autumn Prints
Framing some autumn prints is the perfect way to bring those fall colours into your living space. Instead of sticking photos on your walls, your room should have a noticeboard where you can pin letters, photos and other important documents.
Buy standing frames for your desk/window/shelf space. Sites like Pinterest will have links to free downloadable prints. Another idea is to press some fallen leaves or paint over leaves/sponge cut-outs into a frame or book to display.
You can buy inexpensive frames at local craft stores and swap out the prints when you want to change your decorations instead of buying new.
Easy craft decorations
For this first one you’ll need some mason jars (which you can pick up at any local pound store) some optional decorative string, fairy lights and leaves or pinecones. The video below has one method of how you may wish to decorate your jars, but you can find other video tutorials online.
If you’re feeling extra crafty, you can pop into stores like Hobbycraft or IKEA and pick up crafting items to also create/decorate:
Autumn wreath
Paper leaf garland
Pumpkin carving – many of our Host locations will be doing Pumpkin carving competitions!
Throw it on there!
Cushions and throws are an easy way of transforming any room into a cosy hangout. You can swap out your covers for the season, and you don’t have to pay too much for them either. Check out your local Asda or even amazon.
Throws make your bedroom look more cosy and they will also provide an extra layer of warmth in the colder months.

Are you thinking of applying to university and wondering if it is too late for September 2024 intake? Don't worry, still have time to submit your application. If you miss the 31 January 2024 deadline for most other courses, you may still be able to apply after the deadline has passed. Universities and colleges often consider applications received after the 31 January deadline if there are available, but you do risk missing out on your top university/course choice if it’s popular.
