Host: Our booking process

Overview of our booking platform.

Booking your student accommodation at Host is simple. Our booking platform has been designed to provide you with an easy and stress-free experience. Whether you’re booking en-suite room in London or re-booking your studio room in Bournemouth for another year, all can be done effortlessly on our website.

What you will need with you to complete the booking.

• Personal email address
• Personal mobile number
• Home address (UK or international)
• The name of the University you have applied to
• Year of study you will be in during your tenancy
• Your emergency contact details (An emergency contact should include the name of someone you would want to be contacted in the event of a medical emergency)
• In date and valid payment card
• Guarantor details (a guarantor promises to pay the rent if a tenant defaults)

Finding the right accommodation.

With 31 student accommodation properties in 18 cities and towns across the UK and one in Dublin, you’ll be sure to find the perfect accommodation for your studies with Host.

Once you have found the location you wish to stay in the Host accommodation that matches your criteria, you are ready to book.

Selecting your room type.

Depending on your personal preference and budget, choose from a range of room types at your selected Host student accommodation property. Host properties offer a wide range of room types. From Bronze en-suites in Bournemouth’s 17a Christchurch Road to Platinum Deluxe Balcony Studios in Nottingham’s Lace Market Studios. The choice is yours.

Choosing your contract length.

Once you have selected your room type, you will need to choose from the list of available contract lengths.

Host’s typical contract lengths are 51, 44 and 43 weeks. Although some contract lengths may differ.

Creating an account.

If you are a returning Host customer rebooking for another year, you can log in using your existing details.

If you are new to Host, you can register and create an account. Don’t worry, you won’t lose your place in the booking at this stage.

Your details.

For our booking records we ask you to provide your details. Collecting these details ensures that your booking process is smooth, secure, and tailored to your needs while complying with legal and safety regulations.

Details required:

• Title
• Date of birth
• Nationality
• Mobile number
• Address
• Email address
• University
• Year of study

Emergency contact.

You will be asked to provide details for your emergency contact (also know as next of kin).

An emergency contact is a person who will be notified in the event of an emergency involving you. This person is usually a family member, close friend, or trusted individual who can act on your behalf or provide critical information to first responders, medical personnel, or other authorities. Here are some key points about emergency contacts:

• Notification: They are told if you are involved in an accident, medical emergency, or other critical situation.
• Decision-Making: They may be asked to make key decisions about your care if you are unable to do so.
• Information Provider: They can provide important medical history or other relevant information to responders.

You will need the following details of theirs:

• Email address
• First name
• Last name
• Mobile number
• Address
• Relationship to you

Got a discount code.

Properties run a wide range of promotions throughout the year for example, £300 Cashback when you book, Refer a Friend, Free bus pass etc. Before making your booking, check the property T&C page for any promotions that are running, find the outlined promotional code and add to your booking.

Choosing your installment option.

At Host, you can choose to split your payments in to installations.

Our payment options are:

• Full contract payment: You pay for the full duration of the accommodation in one payment at the time of booking. Some of our locations will offer you the option of splitting the payment by making an advanced rent payment on booking, this is usually £200 which is deducted from the total payment which is due on the 1^st August.
  NB: If you book a room after the 1^st August you will need to make the full payment at the time of booking.
• Instalment plan: The full value of the contract is broken down into several payments spread throughout the duration of your tenancy. You will need to make an advanced rent payment when you book of £200 which is deducted from your second rent instalment.
  Please note: To be eligible for an instalment plan you will need a UK Guarantor.
  NB: If you book a room after the 1st August you will need to make payments one and two at the time of booking.

Checking your payment schedule and making your advanced payment.

At this step you will need your payment card to hand.

Ensure all details displayed on the page are correct and proceed to paying your initial rent payment.

Do I pay a deposit/bond?

We don’t take a deposit or charge you a bond when you book with Host. We take an initial rent payment; this is not a deposit it is a payment made on booking which forms part of your total rental amount.

UK Guarantor details.

You will be asked to provide UK guarantor details for your booking.

A student accommodation guarantor is someone who agrees to take financial responsibility for a student’s rental obligations if the student is unable to meet them. This is a common requirement for students renting private accommodation.

Purpose of a Student Accommodation Guarantor:

• Financial Assurance: Provides landlords with confidence that the rent will be paid on time.
• Risk Reduction: Lowers the risk for landlords by ensuring that someone reliable backs the rental agreement.

You will need the following details of your UK guarantor to continue with the booking

• Email address
• First name
• Last name
• Mobile number
• Address
• Relationship to you

Signing Terms and Conditions.

Signing terms and conditions online has become a standard practice for many online transactions.

Steps to Signing our Terms and Conditions Online:

• Read the full document
• You can print, download and/or save the document for your future reference
• To agree to the terms and conditions at the end of the document you click agree/sign.

Booking completed.

Book with peace of mind.

What does this mean for you?

• No Place no Pay – Book a room at Host today, but if you don’t obtain the grades you need for university and no longer require the room, you won’t pay a penny.
• No Visa no Pay – Book a room at Host today, but if you don’t get your Visa approved for studying in the UK, and no longer require the room, you won’t pay a penny.
